GROVER, Mo.鈥擲t. Louis-based Kwame Building Group will be serving as construction manager for the expansion of St. Louis Community College鈥檚 Wildwood campus.
Kwame will be working in concert with Christner Architects on the $88 million project, which entails renovating existing structures on the Wildwood campus as well as two brand-new structures, the Center for Health Sciences and Center for Technology. Kwame鈥檚 duties at the Wildwood campus will entail construction and pre-construction management. The firm will also oversee the budget and schedule, as well as hire subcontractors and liaise with STLCC during the work.
Work at the Wildwood campus is just one piece of $400 million of refurbishment and modernization funds to be applied across all of STLCC鈥檚 satellite grounds. An eight-cent property tax, passed by voters in the summer of 2021, is helping to pay for the various expansions.
鈥淲e are excited to continue our longstanding relationship with the community college, particularly Wildwood,鈥 Tony Thompson, president of Kwame Building Group, said in a recent statement. 鈥淲e look forward to involving interns on the job to assist in career development along with our continued support through our foundation.鈥
Kwame鈥檚 other accomplishments for STLCC include the buildout of the original Wildwood campus back in 2007, during which they oversaw the installation of lowemission building materials鈥攖hereby earning the then-new campus LEED Gold certification. Kwame has also worked throughout the JC鈥檚 district by renovating science labs at the Forest Park, Meramec and Florissant Valley campuses in 2016.
