Chapman Breaks Ground on New Arts Center
ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman University is planning to build a new $64 million performance hall for its College of Performing Arts, which will be fully funded by private donations.
States Continue to Decrease Education Funding
WASHINGTON — The quest for education funding was already a constant battle before the economic collapse in 2008. The resulting downturn only made the situation worse. As a total sum, funding for elementary and high schools has dropped compared to the previous year in 26 states, many of which already faced budget cuts in the years and months leading up to the financial catastrophe. To make matters worse, 35 states have watched its school funding sink below 2008 levels.

Public-Private Partnership Comes to Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. —Yonkers Public Schools became the first school district in the nation to begin the possible implementation of a public-private partnership. The $1.7 billion project would allow the school district to rebuild and/or replace aging facilities through renovation, reconstruction or tearing down and completely rebuilding.
Created in 1881, Yonkers Public Schools is the fourth largest district in the state of New York. The most recent demographic study showed that the school district is now almost 4,000 seats short and by 2017 it will be 7,000 seats short.
