The Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System last week votedunanimously to appoint Susan Ballabina, Ph.D.,as 28th president of Texas A&M University.Ballabina assumedher new role on May 11, building onmore than three decades of service to Texas A&M and the State of Texas.

Ballabinapreviouslyservedas Executive Vice Chancellor of The Texas A&M University System, where she helped lead systemwide operations, advance strategic initiatives and support the work of the A&M System’s universities and agencies across Texas.

Throughout her career,Ballabinahas held senior leadership roles spanning the university and the A&M System, including Chief of Staff to the president, Senior Vice President for Academic and Strategic Collaborations, and Deputy Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer for Texas A&M AgriLife. Her work has included strengthening statewide programs, building partnerships, supporting research and educational initiatives, and coordinating large-scale efforts such as the Healthy South Texas initiative and the disaster recovery following Hurricane Harvey.

“Texas A&M has a strong foundation, a clear mission, and passionate faculty, staff, students, and former students who care deeply about its future,”Ballabinasaidin a statement.“I’m grateful for the trust placed in me by the regents and Chancellor Hegar, and I look forward to working alongside the Aggie community to build on that strength and move the university forward.”

Carolyn Noll Sorg has been selected as the 27th President of John Carroll University and will begin her tenure onJune 1, 2026. A collaborative and forward-thinking leader, Noll Sorg brings nearly two decades of experience in enrollment strategy, organizational design and mission-centered innovation to the role. Since joining John Carroll in 2023, Noll Sorg has helped strengthen the university’s momentum through growth in applications and enrollment, increased admission selectivity, expanded national reach, and new philanthropic commitments supporting student success.

Prior to her work at John Carroll, Noll Sorg was a leader in College Board’s BigFuture division, where she consulted with a portfolio of leading national research universities and liberal arts colleges while developing tools to connect students across the country to educational opportunities at more than 1,500 colleges and universities. Earlier roles at Ursuline College, the University of Akron, Baldwin Wallace University, and Barnard College shaped her student-centered, analytically grounded and design-informed leadership approach.

Noll Sorg holds a Master of Fine Arts in experience design from Miami University, where her thesis examined radical hospitality and the campus visit through a design-thinking lens. She also earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education from Columbia University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Baldwin Wallace University.

The Golden Gate University (GGU) Board of Trustees last week announced the appointment of Brent White as the university’s 8th president. White, a proven higher education leader with extensive experience in global engagement, academic innovation, and student success, will begin his term on November 1, 2025.

White currently serves as Chief Global Officer at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where he directs all aspects of global engagement for the campus, and as Professor of Law at the William S. Richardson School of Law. He previously served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Golden Gate University, leading the creation of new programs and international partnerships that significantly expanded the university’s student body and its global impact. Prior to his time at GGU, White served as Vice President for Global Affairs and Dean of Global Education at the University of Arizona, where he led the university’s transformation into one of the world’s most global universities, including 13 micro-campuses in nine countries.

White earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York University School of Law, and his A.B., magna cum laude, in Public Policy from Duke University. His legal scholarship has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, and 60 Minutes.
