RESTON, Va. — Two school projects — one at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas and the other at Intermediate School 230Q Annex in Queens, N.Y. — were named as part of the seven 2016 Best in Class Brick in Architecture Awards winners from the Brick Industry Association (BIA). The awards honor the country’s most visionary projects incorporating fired-clay brick in seven categories: Commercial, Educational (Higher Education), Educational (K-12), Healthcare, Municipal/Government, Residential (Multifamily) and Residential (Single Family).
WICHITA, Kan. — The first building to take shape in the mixed-use corner of Wichita State University’s will be a 123-room Element by Westin Hotel. The 20-acre area, to be named Braeburn Square, will also feature restaurants and shops in addition to lodging. SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse University kicked off the first phase of a long-term plan to modernize the campus with the start of 120 construction projects this summer. ENFIELD, Conn. — Asnuntuck Community College celebrated the groundbreaking of the new 27,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center building on July 20. When completed in spring 2017, the facility will include smart classrooms as well as laboratories dedicated to computing, 3-D printing, machining and metrology. CEDAR CITY, Utah — Almost 10 years in the making, major changes are underway to the Sharwan Smith Student Center at Southern Utah University (SUU) in Cedar City.
