George Mason to Construct Health Sciences Building
FAIRFAX, Va. — George Mason University (GMU) broke ground this summer on a new $73 million health sciences building to debut in 2017. The 160,000-square-foot Academic VII/Research III building is part of GMU’s ongoing strategic plan, which includes renovating several academic buildings.


Tom Marquardt, SBID, IIDA, has recently been hired in HDR’s Chicago office as a design principal. A veteran in the industry with 29 years of experience, Marquardt comes to HDR after leading his own successful interdisciplinary design and branded environments studio in Chicago, which he founded in 1988. Prior to that, he worked for two firms designing corporate and commercial interior projects ranging from office test fit plans to high-end showrooms.
