St. Cloud Students Spearhead Intersection Improvements
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Guns and intruders are not the only causes for concern when it comes to student safety. Two students at North Junior High School in St. Cloud recently devised an improvement plan that would help increase safety at a busy intersection near the school — and won the approval of the St. Cloud City Council.


North American design firm Stantec has named Derk Jeffrey its new education sector leader for the Mid-Atlantic region. A registered architect, Jeffrey has managed a growing design practice, and led strategic business development initiatives and the successful delivery of innovative design for education clients in the Mid-Atlantic and nationally.

Passey’s past projects include the master plan for the University of Las Vegas Shadow Lane Campus, a proposed 18-acre shared health sciences campus, and the recently completed patient tower expansion and renovations to Banner Estrella Medical Center, located in Phoenix.
FITCHBURG, Mass. — Fitchburg State University recently dedicated its new $57 million, LEED Silver Antonucci Science Complex, which provides laboratory, research and classroom facilities in a single location.
The Bonita Unified School District has long wished for a performing arts venue that would stand as a landmark not only for the district’s 13 schools, but also for the community as a whole. That wish came true this past fall.
Philip Riedel, AIA, CEFP, LEED BD+C, an architect in NAC|Architecture’s Seattle office who specializes in educational planning and design, has been promoted to principal. Riedel is currently managing the replacement and modernization of Wilson High School for Tacoma Public Schools, bond planning for Sumner School District and the construction of Sierra High School, a new Seattle charter school.
